Fervr selected as an Official Honoree for 2011 Webby Awards

15th Webby Awards Official Honoree

On April 12th, we received an email from International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (aka IADAS) notifying us that Fervr had been selected as an Official Honoree of the 15th Annual Webby Awards in the ‘Religion & Spirituality’ category.

We just about died of shock.

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the web industry’. With nearly 10,000 entries received from all 50 US states and over 60 countries, the Official Honoree distinction was awarded to the top 10% of all work entered that “exhibited remarkable achievement” in content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and overall experience.

(Other Webby Award Official Honorees this year include industry leaders such as the Disney Channel, Lego, Warner Bros, The Economist, Cisco Systems, the Adobe Museum of Digital Media and CNN.com)

One of the things we’d love to see is a greater Christian presence in the digital arts around the world. Hopefully this will inspire others to use their gifts to minister to God’s people while contributing to the creative and/or tech community.

Cooking Up A Bible Study

Posted on 15th Jun 2010

At Fervr, we’re passionate about helping young people understand the word of God for themselves and be transformed by it. Who better to teach the word of God to young people than their peers? If adults can lead an adults Bible study, and uni students can lead a uni students Bible study, then why shouldn’t high schoolers be capable of leading a high school Bible study?

'Cooking Up A Bible Study', written by Edwin Tomlins is our latest eBook.

We love the metaphor of ‘cooking’ not only because of Masterchef mania, but because it’s a Biblical metaphor. Earthly food keeps us going in this world, but it’s feeding on the word of that will sustain us into eternity.

"So why produce yet another Bible study training resource?” we hear you ask.

We don’t claim that it will tell you everything you need to know about crafting and leading a Bible study (there are plenty of fantastic indepth resources and conferences for that). It’s simply a short, engaging introduction to leading a Bible study for young people (i.e. high schoolers) who have never encountered anything of the sort.
